Ability to redirect video from computer monitor to a TV

This would be a very desirable feature, if I may say so. Many computer monitors are relatively small and most computer users own a TV.

I just put two plus two together, and voila! a brilliant idea!

The possibility of seeing *.avi and all the other formats in a screen actually designed to watch movies would be a wonderful breakthrough. Contrary to popular belief computer users actually enjoy watching movies with their friends and family, instead of sitting in a basement by themselves.

What did you say? There is such feature already!? Great!

In that case, change my request to:

Documentation/HOWTO on how to achieve the mentioned redirection.

Thanks!

?
TV-out is a feature of a display adapter. Just either enable clone mode or extended desktop from your display adapter control panel (under Windows at least it is simple).

What is this "display adapter" you speak of?

Two possibilities come to mind.

(1) A VGA card used to attach a computer monitor

(2) A video card used to sample and capture TV signals, and the other direction as well.
