Resume Movie

Could some one explain how I set VLC to enable a movie to resume play back from current position after I have closed VLC then restarted. sorry if this is worded incorrectly new to VLC.

As j-b said this isn't possible, however you can specify a start-time (in seconds). As an example, if you want to to start 10 mins and 30 secs in, that would be 630 seconds ((60 x 10) + 30). Go to:
Media >> Advanced File Open...

Select you file, then tick "Show more options" and enter in the time for "Start Time".

Alternatively you can press "Ctrl+T" or go to "Playback >> Go to Specific Time..." when playing to enter in a time in hours, minutes and seconds.

Not quite as easy as it being automated, however just requires the current time to be noted somewhere etc.

Till VLC has this playback resume functionality, this tip would help a lot.
