Ability To Delete Files (Even The Current)

I have a suggestion that I don't think has been addressed.

I use VLC often for file review and sorting. Sometimes, there will a lot of files with ambiguous names. Right now, I listen or watch, figure out the filename, and then go back to Windows Explorer to delete the file. Sometimes, this takes a while because Windows has to wait for the file to be closed before it can be deleted.

How about adding in a simple feature that, while a file is playing, I could press "Delete" on the keyboard, or some other assignable keyboard shortcut, and VLC will immediately close the file and delete it (or send it to the Recycle Bun)? I suppose after the current file is closed, the next file in the Playlist would automatically start playing.

Thoughts?

Dangerous, dangerous...
I see the horde of people coming to explain that VLC delete his whole disk...

This could be something that needs to be turned on first... or just have only a keyboard shortcut to execute.. like CTRL + ALT + DELETE. Why or how would VLC delete a whole disk?

Because VLC config file can get corrupted quite easily. And people do crazy stuff with their playlists.

Well, like I said, it could be something that has to be turned on in Prefs as an experimental feature until testing is completed. Considering all of VLC's awesome, wacky, and highly advanced features, I can't imagine this one being very hard to implement... many programs that have media libraries allow you to delete from the disk or from the library.

It would be almost trivial to implement it to QT4. Just one button to QT4 playlist and use QFile's remove function that deletes file.

There is a winamp plugins that allows you to delete files while watching. See http://nunzioweb.com/daz/plfr.html I've just tested it with the latest winamp lite version and it works like a charm although its pretty old. It's a pitty that VLC does not offer such a feature.

It's evident the VideoLan crew has no intention of adding such a simple option. Therefore I wrote my own which functions in Windows. Read more here : https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=113813

I fail to see the evidence. And I don't know who this "VideoLan crew" is.

I want to delete a video file.
Preferably: skip to next video -> then delete the previous one (otherwise the file would be in use).

Turns out I've switched to MPC-HC which can do this. I just mapped the DEL key.
