Correct File Association Under Windows

When files are set as default for VLC, example .mp3, the file should show up with a VLC traffic cone logo when I see it in Windows Explorer, instead of the no logo thing that makes it look like something is wrong with the file. Also, under Vista, it should correctly integrate with the Default programs control panel.

Can you manually change the file extension logo to correct one?

No, I tried. Before I updated to the latest version, in version 0.8.6i I manually right-clicked on an flv file and selected open with VLC, then it had the correct logo. But in 0.9.4, in the Preferences there is a file assosiation option, I used that. Now it doesn't show the correct logo. This is under XP, haven't tried it under Vista.

I meant from Windows Explorer (I am fairly sure it is a VLC issues, but I just want to be sure).

Yeah, I know what you meant. Have you been able to replicate it? How is that search for a Windows dev going?

I agree, that sucks. I wish I could help, but I am just a user.
