GeoVision Codec Support

I get to play back hours of CCTV footage from many, many systems.
The only one I can't play back with VLC is footage recorded with the GeoVision codec.

Any chances?
Cheers, Antony.

Have you tried nightly builds?
http://nightlies.videolan.org/
If nightly builds don't change anything, have you tried FourCC changing (aka GEOX -> xvid)? And if that works could you report back here so someone can patch those fourCC values to nighties.

I, too would appreciate some help on the custom GeoVision codec.
Have downloaded and cleanly compiled yesterdays source and it
could not play a file encoded with geox.
Mplayer suffers from this as well, I thought the numeric video format id might
be of some help:
==========================================================================
Cannot find codec matching selected -vo and video format 0x34504D47.
Read DOCS/HTML/en/codecs.html!
==========================================================================
I see you have asked for a sample, how do I get one to you?

Upload the sample file to for example megaupload or to some other similar service. Or if you only want to share it to VLC developers, upload it to
ftp://ftp.videolan.org/incoming/ and also include text file with same name (change extension) that explains the issue.

Here's a small ~60k sample :

I tried swapping the FourCC codes with a few options - the closest I could get was a vertically flipped static image.
Close but no cigar just yet...
Cheers, Antony.

My mistake, FourCC used is GEOV, NOT GEOX. I can't find ffmpeg or libavcodec support for it, so if you want to watch those videos, someone must write decoder.

Hi,
Unable for me to play this video with the latest version of VLC (v1.0.1) and Windows Media Player know read it
![Crying or Very sad ](./images/smilies/icon_cry.gif)
...
Here's a small ~76k sample :
http://dl.free.fr/gFqOxxfgq
The FourCC code for this video is
GM40, that's a copy of my error log :
Pas de décodeur approprié pour le format:
VLC ne supporte probablement pas le format audio ou vidéo « GM40 ». Malheureusement il n’y a rien à faire.
I've already try to setup the latest GeoVision CCTV MPEG4 Codec 8.1.2 from this
link, but unable to play this video with VLC
I've already try to register manually GXAMP4.dll with regsvr32 (which seems to be the dll file that's required from this
link).
Thanks !

VLC cannot use DirectShow or VfW decoders, so regsvr32 won't help (nor additional .dll files). So open source decoder is needed.

I haven't heard anything related to Geovision support.
