Quick File Open Option

This may be a simple issue but when I use the "Quick Open File" option, the Open File window opens, but it always opens in the "List" mode. I have all my Windows Explorer windows set to open in the "Details" mode and would like to have the "Open File" window open in the Details format, showing the file creation date, etc.
Is there an option that I have missed that would allow setting which mode (Thumbnails, Tiles, Icons, List, Details) the Open File window appears?
Could an option be added that would allow the "Open File" window to open in the mode it was last used? For example, if I have changed the display to "Details", the next time that window opens, it would open again in the "Details" mode. Then the user would not have to manually change it each time they open the same Window. In other words, it would behave the same as all Windows Explorer windows do.

Which version of VLC are you talking about ? 0.8.6 or 0.9.0-svn ?

OK. I consider this request irrelevant since everything changed about that in next version.
Try a nightly build.

Ok - I tried the nightly build 0.9.0-svn-20080117-1004 Grishenko.
The same thing happens. When I do "Media/Open File" it always opens in the "List" format, even though all my other Windows views open in the "Details" format.
I can change to the "Details" format and it will stay that way until I close VLC. Then, the next time I open the program, its right back to "List" format.
Could a "Preferences" option be created to specify how the Open File format will be?
Also, I noticed in this build that I can only resize the window in width, but nothing happens if I try to change the height.
Thanks

Thank you so much.
I have no idea how much effort this will be, but I certainly appreciate it, very much.

Sorry, when you said "feel free to add a ticket on trac", I didn't realize you actually required one.
How do I access trac to open a ticket?
Thanks

Done for next version. You will have an option to set that in the preferences.

Hi, Thanks.
Since I'm new to the program can you please tell me what the purpose is of "Open Folder?" I created a new Shortcut that has "Start In" set to "C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\My Documents\My Flash Files" and the shortcut does open the program and when I click on Open Folder, sure enough, it shows "My Flash Files." But, when I click on Open File, it does not appear to be using the shortcut path for My Flash Files, but rather the default of "C:\Documents and Settings\{username}.
So, I'm confused as to what "Open Folder" does and why "Open File" doesn't use the path I specified in the shortcut.
Did I miss something, or is there a place to specify a default path in the Preferences?
Thanks so much for being patient with a new user!

Hi - well, I tried the Nightly Build from 01/22 and it would not run at all. So, I removed it and tried the latest Nightly (01/23) but I don't see any difference in the "Open File" and "Open Folder" - also did you have a chance to incorporate that option for how the window opens (details vs list mode)? If you did, I sure can't find it. Or did you do that to keep me guessing, too?
Kidding!
Thanks again,

in the preferences you can choose.

Ok - then it must be right in front of me, but.........
I looked in Tools/Preferences and then in Interface but I sure don't see any thing different. I'm using the 20080123-2110.
What did I miss?
Also, you mentioned something about the "Open Folder" and "Open File" getting better in the next build. Does that mean the user will be able to specify a path for the folder or file open options? Would that be in the Preferences/Main Interfaces???
Thanks again - didn't mean to make this a big deal.

Preferences, Interface, Main Interface, Qt
Well, what I might do, is save the state of detail/list and show the same the following time.

Hi - Thanks for adding that option - works great.
I did build a new Shortcut for the program and specified what folder to start in - and it works fine.
It just leaves me confused at to the purpose of "Open Folder"
But with the path specified in the Shortcut - the "Open File" works just fine.

Why ?
Btw, you don't need the shortcut, just save the preferences.

Ok, I'm confused.
Is there someplace in the Preferences to specify a "working Directory" or path? That's why I created a shortcut with the "Start in" path.
What am I missing? (Again.)

Well, it should save it and yes, there is should be a path, but it seems to be broken on windows.

Ok, got it.
So, if it gets fixed, where would I put the path for working directory? Which Preference option is it supposed to be?

I think i will make the automatic option of saving the latest path used.
And same for view list/detail.
So no, option, all automatic.

Hi - I probably should have started a new ticket, but I don't think I have permission to do that yet.
I have noticed that the latest nightly builds will not run - they open and I can select a file; it starts to play and then a dialog box comes up saying the program has encountered a problem and has to close. There is error data listed but I'm not sure if you receive that data or not.
If I go back to the 200801025 build, it works just fine. But anything since then seems to cause the error.
Are you receiving the error data or is there some way that I can send it to you? I have tried each "latest" build and the problem has happened with all of them.
Thanks
