Single frame advance

The one mplayer feature I miss in VLC is the possibility to advance for (about) one frame when the video is paused. Any chance that that gets implemented?
Thanks,
Axel

Ok, if it's technically not possible to do single-frame advance, maybe one could have a poor man's substitute: a key that has the effect of restarting the paused movie and then pausing it again immediately afterwards, maybe 1/10 of a second later or so. I often find myself hitting space in quick succession. Cheers.

Yeah, j-b suggested that too, so maybe.

More's the pity. I keep Zoom player for single-frame (works via mouse wheel, pretty cool) and PowerDVD for its DVD control buttons. I'd sure like to strip it down to just VLC, but I guess that won't happen.

I just posted an idea of how to implement a frame advance feature in the thread linked to above. I think my idea should work. There definitely must be a workable way to get this feature implemented one way or another.
