Problem with DVD EndAction/Loop

Hi!

I have following Problem with VLC:

I created a DVD with Menu with Adobe Encore DVD.
Theres an option, that after a certain time, an "end-action" should start. In my case, the Main-movie should start after 5 minutes without action in the main menu.
Its a virtual Tour in a museum, controled by a touchscreen. So, if there are no visitors, the tour should start by itself every 5 minutes. Otherwise you would always see the main menu of the DVD...i dont know if that would be the best thing for the screen, displaying the same picture for hours...

This Endaction-feature works fine with Power-DVD, Nero and hardware-DVD-Players, but not with VLC...after the time passed, there just happens nothing.
And i want to use VLC, because it can be perfectly edited for my purpose.

Any suggestions, what i could do?

Oh, and please excuse my bad english...

Bump

Anyone?

If theres no idea about it, maybe somenone should post this problem in the known Bug list of VLC or in the ToDo list...

I also have a DVD that has an end action time out. If nothing is chosen the previews of coming attractions defaults. VLC skips the whole menu and goes to the main movie menu.

I have seen supplemental add ons after the main movie and menus were created like for language adds for specific countries for release that are not shown by VLC.

However, from what you describe all you are looking for is a screen saver that deactivates when some one touches the screen and plays the DVD but kicks in when the DVD ends. Perhaps there is a Night at the Museum screen saver? :)

Thanks for the Reply!

A Screensaver will be my option for a workaround.

But it is not only the "Screensaving" function that i need.
I have a multiple languages, so a lot of menus and submenus. If somenone leaves the DVD and the touchscreen whuile it is in the spanish submenus, endaction and timeout should jump back to the original language startmenu...VLC doesn´t.

It is also wanted from the museum, that the main movie (8 minutes duration) should show up automatically time by time, so that a visistor doesn´t have to use the touchscreen.

And i want to use VLC, because i have edited already a skin for the use and surplus VLC offers a lot of useful functions other players don´t have.

The only thing I could suggest at this juncture is posting a message in Feature Requests section of the forum or I can move this there for you if you like. Let me know.

Then move it there...maybe in the future it will be helpful...

Thanx for the support! :)

If i find a workaround within VLC, i´ll post it.

So, here´s the solution:
After browsing the VLC Forum i found this thread:
viewtopic.php?t=15970&highlight=dvd+end+action
Could you let it run for a LONG time?
I have a suspicion that VLC has a wrong timescale, with this kind of system. So if the return occurs after 10 minutes for instance, I wouldn't be too surprised. If you could test this, i would welcome it.
I tested it and *surprise* The DJ was right.
The timeline runs to the end (in my case 2:59 minutes) and holds there...and after some additional amount of time, the endaction starts, as it should!

So, no feature request is neccesary!
Thanx for the support anyway! :D
