Minor requests

For persons that often times edit the preferences in VLC, such as me, could you make the duration that a message appears continually stay on! I not angry at you guys (couldn’t be), it’s just a little annoying that when I’m trying to read a description of what everything does, the information disappears on me and I can’t get it to come up again until: I switch to a different menu, switch back and then mouse over and read the second half of whatever it was that I was trying read.

I’ve also tried to see if anything had changed in the latest nightly builds for: v0.9.0 and v0.8.6 bug fix, and there was no change. Again this isn’t a big to do; it would make it a little easier though when I’m trying to learn what will happen if I tick a certain box. Thanks again for taking the time to hear (or read) me out. :)

Well, preferences will change a lot in QT4 interface for 0.9.0. Just wait :D

I have a quick question (depending on how fast you read it) about VLC v0.9.0. Will the nightly builds inevitably lead up to the final product or will you guys be holding something back until the final release?

So far I can’t tell the difference between the wxWidget interface and the QT4 interface. Has it already been included in the nightly builds or do I have to wait a little longer? By the way, the nightly builds I’ve tested of v0.9.0 are awesome! :D

VLC is an open source project, open in discussion and open in lots of things. So there are not secrets ans no hold backs. The nightly are slowly becoming the release.

About qt4, maybe you did not activate it.

-Iqt is the switch to activate it.

Thanks! I didn’t know I had to activate it, now I see the difference.

Figured I might as-well recycle this topic instead of making a new one. Maybe this will become my general minor requests topic.

As yet another minor request, can VLC be made to snap to the corners of a desktop (Qt4 interface preferable). I know of some skins that already do this, “default” skin is one of them.

It would be a nice little thing to have. Well...that is all for now. :)

I don't understand the request

I think he means the feature some programs, like for example WinAMP have.
When you drag their window and the resulting position will be within an X amount of pixels distance of top/bottom/right/left of the desktop, it'll move to the corner its close to.
So for example when it gets close to the bottom it'll snap to the bottom. Or when it's close to both the bottom and right, it'll snap to the bottom-right corner.
This way you won't have to pixel-perfect drag the window to get it in the corner.

OK. Now I understand. But shouldn't it be your windows manager to do that ?

And add a ticket to feature paradize on trac with To set to me (j-b) an interface qt4.

And add a ticket to feature paradize on trac with To set to me (j-b) an interface qt4.
:?: Is this really necessary? I mean, the “default skin can already do this. Whenever you move the interface towards a corner it automatically snaps there, and also, when the playlist is set to none-embedded, it will snap to the corner of the desktop and also to the interface itself.

I was just wondering if QT4 interface will be able to do this some time in the future. Sorry for all the confusion. :)
