Control Over Mouse Button Commands

I'd love to be able to re-map the functions of the buttons on my mice-- for instance, if I didn't want double-click to toggle full-screen mode, but something else.

I would think it would be really easy to impliment this-- just add a few new lines into the Hotkey settings window of the preferences. "Mouse Wheel Up" and "Mouse Wheel Down" are already in there-- why not just add "Mouse Left Click," "Mouse Right Click," and "Mouse Double Click" to that list?

Yes it would be great if mouse button right and left are added to the hotkey list!
I like to pause my movies with the right mouse button.

Maybe the thing that I miss the most in VLC.

I would love to pause with mouse 1, full screen on/off with mouse 3 (scroll wheel), show playlist on/off with mouse 2, etc!

Would love to have this feature too..
But guessing since it was discussed two years ago, it won't be implemented in VLC anytime soon ;)

Mouse Wheel action can be changed and buttons can be disabled, but they aren't freely mappable.
