This will be available in the 0.8.6 VLC release. (I think that it already works in developement versions)

Can somebody tell me if the Opera support in 0.8.6 works with Linux (Dapper Drake). I compiled it two or more times, but I can't install the Mozilla-Plugin in Opera 9.0.1.
When you look at about:plugins VLC is not known.
I work at a Kiosk-Terminal with Opera, and I need Video support (MPEG1), so I need to Install VLC with Opera.
Perhabs there exists a Howto to make VLC work with Opera ?
cheers Hirschbert

Sorry if these are stupid questions (i'm new here), but is there any indication of when the new version will be finished? And can we try out the developement version?

in fact it'll be called 0.9.0 ... and i don't have a clue about a release date estimate.
We'll release a bugfix VLC (0.8.6 i guess) pretty soon but i doubt that it'll have the big mozilla plugin changes.
You can still try a nightly from
http://nightlies.videolan.org to see if it works. I can't guarantee anything though.

Sorry, but a Windows installation isn't helpfull.
Can anybody tell me the flags which I need for compilation, so that the Plugin works with Opera 9.0.1 ??
I can start VLC from command-shell and it works pretty well, but as I said the plugin is not known from Opera.

Probably because Opera is set to ignore the plugin (it can make it crash, that's why). If you want to change that simply find the plugin-ignore.ini file in your main opera folder and delete the entry about VLC.
The plugin still does not work though.

thanks so far. In my system exists no plugin-ignore.ini.
I touched plugin-ignore.ini in /usr/share/opera/ but without any result.
Any other Ideas ?

Sorry for the thread necromancy, but how can I get the nightlies to work in Opera 9.02?
If I just copy npvlc.dll I get an error about how it cannot find a procedure point in a .dll. Here is a screenshot:

libvlc.dll is located in the Videolan > VLC folder. You can *try* copying that over too.
I tried it and the plugin loaded, but still crashed Opera (this was many builds ago)
