When selecting on the slider where exactly you want to play the file, this does not work for the first 1/3 of the slider.. selecting the position only works when selecting in 2/3 of the song\video file.

My explantion at the top isnt very good heres an example.
e.g. slider
|----X----------------------|

so you cannot select a position before the X and its only possible after it. the only possible way to slect anything before X is to select after the X and drag the slider before the X.

I am using vlc-0.8.6-svn-20060629-0001-win32.exe.

Yes, indeed.
I was trying a new method to be able to move the slider at the exact position you click (which is not possible in 0.8.5). But it happens that this method depends on the slider thumb length...
So I'm still looking for a way to get the correct behavior. Therefore don't be surprised of the slider is sometimes not working very well
