I was wondering if there were any plans to add Rendezvous support for VLC/VLS. It would be really good if I could start a server and all the client computers would automatically find that server. It would be like iTunes works now, where is displays all active iTunes applications on a network, then lets you connect to them.

Someone was working on this a long time ago, but I haven't heard much from this project anymore.
It's cool, but not really a priority of course.
