Hi. All versions of VLC i tested seem not to support wmv3.
Will it be added in the future?

It will (hopefully) happend when an open-source decode become available.

WMV3 is supported under Windows. It is supported under Linux if
1/ You have an i386 or an amd64
2/ You have installed a binary codecs pack
3/ Your version of VLC has "loader" enabled.
