Hi,
i miss a "just allow ONE instance" option in VLC

There is one.
It is in the misc section in the VLC preferences panel and is called "Allow only one running instance".

first of all, thanks much for an amazingly feature rich application. i astounded by how much functionality is packed into vlc!
i'd like to add my vote for this option existing in future versions of the linux client. i use one of my computers solely for internet radio (progear tablet). having streamtuner default to sending vlc the url just doesn't work since it opens a a new window everytime, therefore opening a new audio stream in unison with the other(s).

As Gibalou noted, it is already there.
If you want to launch from the command line, add the switch:
--one-instance
Correction: The above switch only works in Windows, as of now.
