Hi, it would be great if support to decode Dolby AC-4 was added to vlc player. It is used as one of the audio codecs in the new atsc 3.0 tv standard and will be adopted by many countries as the default audio codec for tv channels.

Are you guys working on adding support?

Just wish to add my support to the notion of AC-4 audio support.
I find it AMAZING that VLC can show ATSC 3.0 video coming from my HDHomeRun Flex 4K tuner.
The video is 100% flawless when viewed on an antique (around 10 years old) T410 laptop.
HDHomeRun app can not begin to do anything with it on that old laptop.
VLC Codec is listed as MPEG-H Part2/HEVC (H.265) (hevc)
And it looks absolutely amazing. Apparently not transcoded, which I also find amazing.
The ATSC 3.0 Signal is NOT 4K, but I don't care. It's ATSC 3.0, and VLC can somehow magically "figure it out."
Adding audio to that would be VERY much appreciated.
Would let me watch ATSC 3.0 from basically anywhere in the house.
I just gave you $25, so get right on it! :D

Keep up the good work.

This may be a licensing issue; in addition to VLC, some boxes like the Tablo are HDMI-only (no streaming), perhaps for the same reason. I contacted Dolby for more information on this, and received no reply.
