Please add the ability to select the VLC Playback Renderer remotely with a remote control app such as VLC Mobile Remote so it is possible to Chromecast content remotely.

Hi, it's not in in the API yes, but just curious, what would be the need for a remote to a computer which then broadcast to a remote screen ? What is your setup ?

I have a HTPC in the family room that I run VLC with AnyDVD to play Bluray & dvd disks as well as other content. This PC also runs a VLC Mobile Remote server. I have a Chromecast module on TVs in the living room and bedroom. It would be very handy if I could select the VLC playback renderer remotely using the Android VLC Mobile Remote client. The developers of the VLC Mobile Remote server & client said they would add the feature if it were available on VLC.

I don't know if it's safe, thus would be accepted, to use a chromecast remotely, but it's ough to be added in share/lua/intf/modules/httprequests.lua
I'll try to do it if I find a small window of time.

This feature would be greatly appreciated. I would ask the devs of VLC Remote to implement this asap when available.

My (desired) setup: VLC on PC, a desktop with windows in the office room, does the heavy lifting, rendering 2160p HDR to a chromecast (ultra) in the living room, where I sit on the couch and remote control VLC using one single app on the phone (iOS in my case)

I was hoping for a little more interest in this feature. To me, vlc remote control of the target renderer seems like a natural.

+100 for this feature. I thought this was the most simple thing a remote control could have, I don't even have a use for vlc remote if I can't connect to my Chromecast. Thought it was my fault when I couldn't find it. Right now I always have to connect from my desktop to my Chromecast manually and then I can finally go down into the living room to remote control vlc and stream what I want to stream. It's still better than the extremely unreliable Videostream (which is why I use vlc remote now), but it would be much more convenient if I could remote control all that I need without actually walking up to my desktop and manually doing things.

All my Chromecast apps have this as a one-click feature, so why not this one? Seems odd. Please add it if possible.

I second this feature times 100. I use videostream when I'm running Windows and it works wonderful for me. And the best part is being to begin a cast from my computer to my Chromecast remotely. However, when I'm running Linux, I'm using VLC and would love to be able to remotely renderer to a Chromecast.

Please let me know if/when this feature gets added!
