Display media title on request (keystroke)?

Postby gernoth » 02 Jun 2019 09:47

Dear forum,
I am aware of the option "show media title on video start"
and of the option "(display) position" usually triggered by the "t" key
alas, theere is no option to display the media title in the middle of a video. So I am looking for a way to do so, similar to the "t" key for position (or along with that)
What do you think?

i second that request. many times i'm watching a season of a series that has many episodes.
i right click on the season's directory and press "play with VLC media player" to see the episodes one after the other
without having to open each episode's video individually.

sometimes i'm not sure which episode i'm watching, so it would be great to press a hotkey and have the video's title/file name
be briefly and clearly displayed on screen. i also know of the option to "show media title on video start" but that's not what i want.
i want to display the media title on demand.

Note: i use chrome remote desktop on my laptop to control my desktop PC and the VLC that's running on it,
that sends/displays the video to/on my TV (via HDMI), so it's not as easy to see the currently playing video's file name
as it would be if i was running VLC on my laptop. exiting full screen mode and seeing the title on the VLC's title bar
is also not an option since the TV is far from me. pressing a hotkey on my laptop and clearly seeing the video's title/file name
on my TV would be ideal. i think many people would find such a feature useful and unless i'm wrong it doesn't seem to be a hard feature to add.

it would be great if this can be added to the product either directly or via plugin.
looking forward to your comments.

thanks.
