As in the case of trying to properly place a text or graphic overlay on a live cable broadcast, it would be awfully nice if the changes made in preferences would act immediately. It's not always a professional looking option to start a video over again and again and again while trying to get your text message figured out. Scrolling text would also be very nifty.

logo, marq and mosaic subfilter settings can be changed on the fly using the "rc" (Remote control) text interface only for the time being (type HELP to get help in the rc interface). Work is being done to add that to the graphical interface in 0.8.5 .
