--no-check-certificate

Postby eb151vlc » 11 Dec 2018 21:04

Developer Team:

Please add a command line option to receive a httpS stream and ignore the certificate:
--no-check-certificate
like ffmpeg has.

and no popups - Certificate not trusted - allow always/for 24-hrs ... etc.

Currently using v3.0.4

Thanks

1) stream takes considerably longer to start playing.
2) user may not have the latest SSL certificates/system updates.
3) who cares if the server certificate is not valid or expired ?
4) wget, youtube-dl and ffmpeg offer this - so why not VLC ?
edit: ffmpeg does not explicitly have this option but it will
play httpS streams that VLC won't (certificate error) on the same system.
so ffmpeg is automatically ignoring ?

Not going to happen for very obvious reasons.
