Scrobble video streams

Background:
I think it is a very common use-case that you stream your cable tv from your router to your pc when you have cable-internet.

Problem:
Streams cant be fast-forwarded in any way, but the pause button works and the program keeps caching the stream infinitely.
This shows me that the basic functionality is there, it just needs to be added to the interface.

Suggestion:
It would also be nice if you could set the amount of seconds that stay in the cache after you've watched it. That way you could also scrobble backwards.
(In the progress bar, the right end of the bar would indicate the latest content that has been cached, the left end the oldest content that's still in the cache. And you could freely jump forward and backwards in that time window)

p.s. I'm not really sure if scrobble is even the correct word for what I'm describing
Since VLC even has teletext, i assume tv streaming is not really unimportant to the developers

Last.fm FAQs: What is scrobbling?

I guess you rather mean searching through / jumping to cached content, maybe scrolling?
