Can you add support for Wavepack and Monkey Audio Files.
http://www.wavpack.com/downloads.html#sources
You have to contact the Monkey audio team to get the source code.

Point is that sourcecode needs to under GPL, people cant just copy other peoples code and relicense it. Wavpack is under BSD Software License and Monkey Audio doesn't have GPL sourcecodes.
Good one

A BSD-style licence is compatible with the GPL, so we could basically use this decoder without any legal problems. I just don't know whether a team member will work on that.
If an external developer would like to contribute this, we would be glad to help him of course.

WavPacks modified BSD license are GPL compatible, while Monkey's Audios homebrewn license are not. I strongly support feaure request for WavPack support in VLC. WavPack sourcecode are found
here. WavPacks merits compared to other lossless formats can be seen
here.

Any news on supporting
WavPack in VLC?
This is in my opinion the best lossless compressor today, and winning new supporters every day.

Sorry, but this topic wasn't discussed at all in the past couple of months. No developer seems to need this feature, so it wasn't implemented.
We would still accept patches from 3rd party developers and are willing to help of course.

Wavepack should be do-able.
Ape will be very difficult because of licensing issues.
