Translucent bg opacity subtitles

Could there be an option for having a background for the subtitles in the settings, with opacity?
Sort of like how Quicktime displays subtitles, a translucent background marker which looks nice.
Would work well in bright areas I think, like in b/w films with lot of white text in the prologue,
which makes the subtitles drown and get lost, even with thick borders.

option for having a background for the subtitles in the settings, with opacity
don't we already have this setting in Preferences -> Subtitles,
then displayed in the toolbar?

I see only font / size / color & force bold / opacity / outline thickness & color.
Was thinking of color & opacity for the background, not the subtitle text itself.

Instead of going through a labyrinth [Preferences> Show All> Video> Subtitles> Text Renderer> Ok> Restart],
simply open the [Subtitles] tab of the tool bar. This allows background opacity adjust and most other text modifications
with immediate verification.

Thanks. Didn't even look there first. I guess I couldn't see the forest for the trees.
