Auto 'refresh' of capture video & audio device list

I have just started doing a lot of video capture. I found one little annoyance in VLC's gui is the requirement when opening a capture stream, I have to click on the refresh list buttons for the video and audio device name dropdown combo boxes.

It would be nice if that was done automatically when the DirectShow pane of the open dialog was displayed.
