No black bars around video when resizing

Hi
I dont know if it s already an available setting, if it s I didn't find it.
Is there a way, not displaying black bars on the left and right, or up and down, when resizing the window. The window must fit the exact size of the video. I hope , I made myself clear, I' m a not english native.
Thanks

It's clear what you are looking for. I wish for the same. The black bars are not there (either up/down or right/left) in full screen. I saw discussion somewhere, a user was trying to describe this feature, but the people responding was against it because they were imagining aspect ratio distortion. But that's not the case. You're describing keeping the same resize to window that exist in full screen, when you make the window a custom size... retain the same effect... no black either up/down or right/left, but not both up/down and right/left as it is now for some videos.
This problem doesn't happen with all videos.

That's it, no vidéo aspect ratio modification, just the window fitting around the vidéo. If you ever used photoshop "transform-scale" fonction, the same behaviour, using it with shift Key. Why isn t it the défaut behaviour? Why this black bars? In full screen, I understand, but not in windowed mode.

Sorry for bringing back this old thread but thats all I could find on Google.
I also want this functionality, I want VLC's window to resize AS the source's aspect ratio.
Anyone?

Related thing: if there are bars, color of those should be adjustable in settings. Maybe have 3 rgb numbers from 0 to 255, html color codes and/or something else.

I'd like to vote (early, and often) for this feature. MPV only allows video to be resized proportional to the aspect ratio. To be clear, it's similar to the Gimp Scale tool: hold 'shift' to scale proportionately.
Thanks again.

This topic comes up about once every 2 months.
I can offer some comfort through, it is a high priority feature the devs are working on, it will likely be included in VLC 3.0 soon. (no promises yet!)
The official
ticket 18429 and
ticket 18553
One of them will likely be closed because they are duplicates (which was my own fault).

Hi, everyone, just an update, still not implemented/modified ...
And seems it won't be in 4.0 version neither...
The interface is really, really, great, the no border video with command on top of th full video is what I dreamed vlc should be for years, but still no way to have no bars around video when resizing in window mode...
And the ticket didn't updated

I m currently using latest 4.0 beta version, It doesn't work flawlessly, normal for a beta version, but the interface is great, black bars are still there, but the minimalist view is a great upgrade.
