I would personally love to see a vlc build for Palm OS. Maybe it's Just me.

You aren't the only person wishing such a port, but we are unable to create one for 2 reasons:

1) no-one in the team owns a palm-device as far as I know

2) there is a technical concept called multi-tasking (doing multiple different jobs at the same time), which is widely used by VLC. PalmOS doesn't support this feature. Therefore, VLC would almost have to be completely re-written to support this OS, thus it would be much more simple to write a new application for PalmOS than porting VLC to it.

Well hopefully one day there will be a Palm OS 6 (Cobalt) device
Cobalt supports multi-tasking and the Dev Enviroment is built on cygwin and gcc. So porting may be simpler then.......
