Simple editor for video

Hello folks,

Now that Windows 8 has ensured that my favorite simple video editor, PVRPlus from Kworld, does not work, I am looking for a simple video editor to remove ads and other extraneous stuff from my videos, most of which are recorded from TV. I see that some kind of editor is on the drawing boards, but I'm not looking for something that does dissolves and other special effects. I want just a simple cut and merge editor. Is that in the works or being considered?

Hello everyone,
Hi-Tech Lady -

since my PVR (combined DVB-T -and satellite recorder )
is only recording in files of up to 1024MB (*. ts files)
many TV programs are spread automatically over multiple files.

Thus: therefore, also I would like to see a simple "VideoLan" split/cut/merge program.
