.xmp support for (all) video formats?

just a thought...
would it be possible to add xmp sidecar support for video files?
Probably by a filter that has to be switched on, so as not to confuse newbies.
Idea is that the xmp will contain cropping info for the video (maybe colour adjustment?) and will be applied each time the file is played (has to be reset upon finishing)
as a kindof replacement for "autocrop" - so it's configured once per file and _then_ you never have to care about cropping again.

what do you think?

What is this xmp format?

it is a "sidecar" xml file resting next to a media file. pic1.jpg might have a sidecar pic1.xmp.
It contains processing data for the media file so that the original file is unchanged but the processing data is applied before display.
The most common use is in image processing, where you have your file out of the digital camera and later crop/brighten/rotate/... it but not in the original file.
The concept is not limited to image files though... I think some (if not all) video processing parameters of vlc can be stored in a sidecar.

Wow, this seems an overly complex solution to a simple problem.
