VLC should remember the last volume setting

VLC should remember the last volume setting and also if the mute button was on or off?

I can't tell you how many times I clicked on a file and had it blaring out of my speakers. :(

Well there is a preference option for that. It's in the audio section.
Don't use PMs for support questions.

ehm. Menu -> Settings -> Preferences

click on Audio in the left area of the new window (not on the triangle next to it). There should be a slider there for the "Audio output volume"
