Limit VLC Player resizing to fit Screen

VLC's feature to resize its window depending on the video output size (resolution) is very useful. I would like to suggest a modification to this behaviour that would make it even more useful: limit the resizing that takes place, to the size of the screen. ZoomPlayer has this behaviour available: if I load a video that would force some part of the player to be hidden, it would resize so that the entire player (the borders, controls, titlebar, etc) fits the screen.

This sort of resize behaviour is important because if the window resizes to larger than the screen, then I cannot access the player controls. The desirable behaviour is for VLC Player to resize to fit the screen (also taking the taskbar into account) to arrive at an optimum size. I am using VLC 2.0.1 on Windows 7. All this applies to the QT 4 interface so I guess this affects the Linux version as well.

EDIT: I've just searched and found a couple of tickets submitted that request the same behaviour: http://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/4333 and http://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/3715 . It seems as though this "issue" was fixed for the Mac version of VLC Player (2.0.1) but not the Windows version, for which the ticket was submitted 23 months ago. :(
