I am trying to create an experimental usb 3D system. please edit an existing vlc for me as soon as possible to send out this code or its equivalent when the play button is pressed "echo "1" > /dev/bus/usb" and this when the pause button is pressed "echo "0" > /dev/bus/usb" sorry it is in shell script. that is the only thing i could find. please create the option to enable this. i will make the hardware. please just have it do that.

This feature would allow any type of monitor/TV to support all of the types of 3D that VLC supported, which could be any type. However, this is something that is being built into a lot of monitors/TVs now, so eventually this problem will mostly solve itself, however not for a long time. Having this feature in software you can control like VLC is nice as you are not limited to what features your monitor/TV provides to you.

Again, all legacy non-3D TVs, monitors, and projectors will be around for a long, long time, and bringing this support to VLC will allow everyone to enjoy 3D.

I assume all you have to do is overlap the halves of the video (tell it if it's a top/bottom, or side/side, also can have an auto-detect), and apply transparency, as well as give the option for a color filter? With all the filters that VLC already has built-in you wouldn't think this would take too much coding to do? ^^

Andrew Price is working on this for Google Summer of Code 2011, so depending on the speed he can implement it, VLC will have the support at least by August or September.

He's going to support all the typical outputs and inputs:

When can this be expected in the main version?
Are there any general instructions how to use these patches or maybe a beta binary? (win7 64)

Regards

You have to compile from sources if you want to apply those patches. One 3D feature was commited yesterday

Is there any subtitle problem on 3D SBS video? We cannot play these subtitles in Mac.

I haven't tested 3D playback with VLC so I can't comment about that.

Any word on when VLC will fully incorporate this feature (especially since it supports NVIDIA 3D Vision) into the official release?!?!~ ;P Can't wait to altogether replace bloated Cyberlink PowerDVD!!!~ :D

I think earliest might be VLC 2.1 since policy is that no new major feature are implemented to current stable release branch.

This is terrible for VLC.
I'm using VLC 2.0 on Mac. And I cannot play 3D Side by Side videos with subtitle properly.

I use Stereoscopic Player as described by:

http://motherloaded.net/how-to-play-mkv ... -3d-vision

Took a bit of tweeking in the getting the right mode to load as default for Nvidea 3D but as long as you follow the web instructions it's preaty clear.

I would prefer VLC offered the option as a module option

thanks for the link foxpur - now if we could simply get vlc on board to perhaps incorporate support for this 3D capability into the next release (as opposed to currently installing three different applications to get the job done...) that'd really be great!~ :D

I would much much rather give videoLAN $50 than pay PowerDVD just to watch 3D movies...

The year is 2013. And we still cannot play 3D videos with subtitle on our Mac computers.

Hi,
i wanted to ask you if it was possible to alternate the two parts of the HSBS signal at the same framerate of V-sync; it is possible, in fact (I'm working on a prototype), to control the 3d shuter glasses by interfcing them with an arduino that takes the the clock from the V-sync of the VGA port.

This needs a lot of work, to be honest.

Hi, I have already assembled all the hardware following this project: http://hackaday.com/2012/03/28/v-synch- ... x-systems/
I have used Arduino for increased performance and portability (It can be used on any VGA output, no matter the system), and now i need to know if this vlc library is functional (I tried to build it without success) since it 's been inactive for more than 2 years. http://wiki.videolan.org/SoC_2011/Stereoscopic_Video. If it were possible to make it work, we would have 3d stereospopic video on vlc

respected & understood - however, the alternative is that kmplayer, potplayer, mpc-hc, etc. continue to draw users away from vlc with support for such features...
