CoreAVC support

Im asking if it would be possible to insert support for coreavc in vlc. I know that vlc is self contained, and Im not asking for the free implention of that filter (?), since its a commercial product, but more like if its function can be added and used with vlc playback, when you have already bought and installed it.

the reason is that coreavc is currently in most cases able to play HD H.264 coded files at fastest (and it might even increase when 2.0 comes out at nov. 2nd), but imho vlc as a player or frontend is far superior to media player classic, which is required to use coreavc atm. since vlc is open source, its advantages should be used to combine the best of various different features together, and finally support for coreavc would also increase the popularity and use of vlc in the future for a good amount.

You have to find your own coder. AFAIK external codec support ain't coming to VLC.

I just don't see the reason why. if theres something clearly superior and a possibility does exist to gain advantage of that, why not ?
If the people from coreavc wont allow it, thats one thing. but not even trying it is another story.

It would be against current VLC philosophy. Supporting DS or VfW would bring RM, coreavc etc. support, but for Windows only. And if you need CoreAVC supporting media player the Zoom Player and Media Player Classic are better choises (better VMR support etc.).

But if someone wants to code CoreAVC support they can do it.

Fact remains that we already have a FREE and OPEN version of this codec trough ffmpeg. That it's not as fast as CoreAVC is no reason for us not to use and support this codec.
