Add a variety of colors to video playback in VLC

Postby mayconhvab » 24 Mar 2024 21:39

Hello everybody.

Fortunately VLC is the only software that I have the ability to view videos like prores, dnxhd and dnxhr.

It seems to me that video color codecs are wider and more vivid, maintaining what appears to me to be a color beyond standard RGB.

Some information that may be more relevant and visible to VLC are: Better support for RGB, HDR, SDR, sRGB quality, among others.

Also color codecs and formats that can be added to VLC are: Apple ProRes RAW and ProRes RAW HQ, Apple Intermediate Codec, Avid DNxHD / Avid DNxHR decoder, AVC-Intra 50 / 100 / 200 / 4:4:4 / LT , AVC-LongG, XAVC, XF-AVC, XF-HEVC, DVCPRO HD, HDV,

Better quality when playing video formats such as 60 fps, 120 fps and 240 fps, or possibly up to 1,000 fps depending on whether the format is AV1, HEVC, H.265, AVC and H.264 (prores, dnxhd and dnxhr can also be included.

These tools that can be added to VLC can be added to VLC 3.0.xx or possibly VLC 4.0 as I believe VLC 3.0.xx doesn't have much of an API or ability to generate more vivid and more fluctuating or even contrasting colors in VLC 3.0 .xx

More vivid and detailed color codec tools can be added through ffplay or ffmpeg 6.1 (if it's ffmpeg 6.1, more can be added in the future).

But I want to see my webm, mp4 and mkv videos in good quality on my AMD R5 220 video card with my CCE TV plugged in with an HDMI 2.1 cable.

Better video quality via HDMI 2.0 and 2.1 cables can be added, both for audio and videos.

Some information about audio and video codecs and components for their compatibility can be acquired using a simple language such as C language or the one used in VLC.

If you have a good amount of time, you can read, analyze and understand how the most vivid colors and some information on the image and video quality rate work, just look for high color and image information that is transmitted from the computer, laptop, desktop being them, VGA or HDMI.

Information can be searched on Wikipedia such as: RGB color model, Apple ProRes, DNxHR codec, Avid DNxHD.

If some of you are interested and if it is with the permission of the developers and administrators of the VideoLAN Forum that I may be posting some links about this information, it will be greatly appreciated and I will be very grateful, link information according to Wikipedia, as there is a large series and information of various audio and video codecs and color systems that can be added for playback in video formats, in the style of HDR, RGB, YUV, sRGB and many other image codecs for final video playback.

A big hug, and have a great Sunday night and a wonderful week of many surprises for our great and beloved VLC.

And let's go.
