It would be really good if VLC supported video with much wider resolutions.
It seems that VLC doesn't support video files with a horizontal resolution bigger than 8192.
We produce h264 files with a resolution of 1080x8776 for a large video wall. Unfortunately they wont play on VLC.

It would be nice if somebody who wanted this feature would audit the code and provide patches.
