Need much better Subtitle controls - See GOM Player

Postby SemiG » 13 Mar 2019 19:12

To see how Subtitles could and should work see GOM Player. Its subtitle management is both simple and brilliant. It really fixes the Sync problem so prevalent on the Web. See the Subtitle Manager window.

It would also be great if VLC took an idea from Plex and implemented it. This is the ability to automagcally search the web for the matching subtitle file for a Vid. (It searches the most common subtitle providers such as OpenSubtitles.org.

Another current problem is the inability to cope with 1080p files: like Game.of.Thrones.S06E01.1080p.HDTV.x265.ShAaNiG

Best wishes to all.

(is there some way in this forum for me to be automatically be sent an email when there are responses to a Post I've made.

There are several options to adjust subtitles synchronization, please refer to https://wiki.videolan.org/VLC_HowTo/Adj ... tle_delay/

You can use "View" > "VLSub" to download matching subtitles for you videos

To fix this, please be sure before you start the playback to:
  1. Open: Tools -> Messages.
  2. Set Verbosity to 2
  3. Start playback to reproduce your issue

  5. Then paste the full resulting log here between [code]and[/code] (or use Pastebin.com if it's too long)
Also don't forget to name your Operating System and provide the VLC media player version.
