Splitting of recorded .mts file

Postby minihertz » 01 Oct 2016 23:23

Hello- I just got an E-matic digital tv video recorder, and use a Seagate USB hard drive to save the content. The saved file plays fine through the device. However, when I open it up on my pc (windows 10) X64 bit OS using VLC, the file is split into parts, each 3.99mb. That translates into 1:17 of playtime for each file. I basically cannot play any recorded program lasting more than an hour continuously. Is there a software fix for this, or does VLC work that way by design? Thank you for any help you can provide!

If it is ts, you can concatenate it.

That is a limitation for the file system on your disk (probably has nothing to do with VLC). To overcome this, you must check if your recorder support NTFS formatted disks, or perhaps ExFat.
