Custom Menus: the wiping out thereof.

I have been a fan for almost 2 decades.
One thing has bothered me in all those years and still aggravates me today so today, I am speaking out.

Can someone tell me why when we upgrade to a new version, it is necessary for the creators during that upgrade find it necessary to DELETE my custom menu I work hard to create.

Tonight I was warned there was a new release. Ordinary I put upgrades OFF because of this wiping out of my custom menu, but I stupidly allowed the upgrade and of course, after the upgrade, my custom menu disappears and now I have to recreate it AGAIN.
I have asked before, WHY cant someone program VLC to SAVE, STORE, etc our custom menu so we can at least RESTORE our custom one after the upgrade.

Anyone want to explain to me since I have programed computers since 1964 this is an impossible task to save some of our customizations?
