@Jean-Baptiste Kempf
What happened with the patch you've received from waltercacau a year ago?
Will it be accepted in a future release?

You've asked the community for a patch to support presenting the language of an .srt subtitle here and
@waltercacau stepped up and provided a patch here and you acknowledged that here.
I'm asking what happened to that patch? Will it be included in VLC?

Subtitles

Postby Florinel99 » 16 Feb 2014 11:28

I need help!
First of all, I apologize for my English.I Am 15 years old, I did not experience. In the absence of a full-time job, I made in the site, are handicapped (cannot move).
In this site Ie introduced and online movies, subtitled in Romanian. Currently running in the JW Player, but for some reasons, I want to introduce them in VLC Player. Personally, I think that is superior to the JW Player.
The films have the following link:
http://webdigitaltv.no-ip.info/index.ph ... e=flv&tv=0
I entered this in VLC Player and see the awesome example:
http://wwwebdigitaltv.do.am/vlc/VLC_Player_Test.html
My problem is the following: I do not get to introduce the film, subtitled in Romanian. I don't know how.
Subtitling has the following address:
http://wwwebdigitaltv.do.am/filme/srt/2376.srt
Please help me, and if you can enter subtitle on the images, please tell me.
I did not experience so please tell me with concrete examples, not just by words.
Thank you in advance for any help given.

Are the subtitles listed in the command?

Subtitles

Postby Florinel99 » 16 Feb 2014 15:15

Yes, I typed the address with subtitles here:
http://wwwebdigitaltv.do.am/vlc/vlclibr ... nfig093.js
var playlistenabled = 1;

/*specify the filenames for the files in the playlist in the "plitem" array.*/

var plitem = ["http://webdigitaltv.no-ip.info/index.ph ... e=flv&tv=0"];

/*Specify the subtitle tracks for each file, if any. 0 disables subtitles. Use -1 for no subtitles.*/

var stitem = ["http://wwwebdigitaltv.do.am/filme/srt/2011.srt"];
So I knew how to do it. :)

Sorry to bring this up again. But we are now on release 2.2.2 and the subtitle thing doesn't work still.

Did you guys patch this into the actual releases, or do we have to do something to get this to work?

I figured out the problem. You must separate the final part of the filename with a period, sort of like a second extension, and vlc will display that part.

Hello all,
I am using VLC 3.0.16 and am trying to have the Track 1 and Track 2 srt filenames renamed as EN and FR but cannot get it. I have the following files in the same folder:
MyMP4_File.mp4
MyMP4_File.EN.srt
MyMP4_File.FR.srt

I am wondering if I am doing something wrong or if the feature that came in VLC 2.2 has since then been removed?

Thank you
Christophe

I can't reproduce the issue, I've just tried with VLC 3.0.19 and all of the SRT files with the same root name as the video, and located in the same folder as the video, are loading and playing fine and are also showing the correct languages in the subtitles menu.
But it's true that it doesn't display the name of the file, why should it since it's the same name as the video name.
