Recording a video with applied video effects

Many people try to take advantage of the video filters of VideoLAN which are sometimes better than VirtualDub's. I could find no intuitive way to keep those adjustments in a new file. Using the recording doesn't keep those adjustments. Recording a video with applied video effects would be a very useful feature.
