change the look and duration of the resume playback notification

Postby whatdoing » 10 Mar 2015 02:09

may i suggest that you change the "resume playback" notification that appears when we open again the same file and make it as a small pop-up window and make it last longer or untill the user decline to resume.

popup is not OK, because that'd be blocking the playback.

There should be a setting in the Preferences to allow changing this default setting- to either allow "resume play" to be the default action when re-opening a video, or to always start from the beginning, or to always prompt the user.

In fact, I've never even seen this notification that everyone is speaking of. Either it's not being displayed on my screen or I'm just not noticing it- either way is not good. This is such a basic function for a media player, I'm really surprised this hasn't been addressed/resolved earlier and included as a Preferences setting.

I would Argue that VLC v2.2.1 still has either 'The' bug, or Multiple-Bugs with respect to the 'Play Back from Last Position'
I am running Windows 8.1 Pro x64.

Question: Is it mandatory to use a program like say, Revo-Uninstaller and/or CCleaner (to clean the windows registry) to remove ALL Previous Data Files
and Registry settings to the previous version of VLC one had installed BEFORE installing VLC v2.2.1 in order to accurately test to see if this
'Playback from previous last position' feature actually works ???

NOTE: I have already set the Interface to use 'Qt' in the preferences, then i quit VLC, then i double clikced on a .MP4 Video file,
played a few seconds, then quit VLC, then double clicked on the .MP4 video file again, and VLC merely started to play the video
from the beginning.

I did NOT see any requester asking me if i would like to resume the video from the previous positon, i saw NO requester, or anything different than normal
at all what-so-ever.

Also note I was partially confused as to the info in the following URL about bug in VLC v2.2.0

https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/14034

Work status: Not started
Resolution: Set to fixed
Status changed from assigned to closed

I guess i must have missed that original status going from 'Not started' to 'Started' at some point.
I'm assume the info in the yellow box is only reflecting the original date this bug was logged for work

Sorry, but it works fine in 2.2.1.
