What Happened To The Speed Control Option?

Postby BigSteve » 01 Jan 2014 17:39

Just wondered why VLC removed the speed control option that allowed us to view movies and audio in slow motion without distorting the pitch? That was my main reason for downloading the VLC player years ago, and now it's gone!

For me the "[" and "]" keys still work, as does the Playback>Speed>... menu

I have no idea where or what "[and]" keys is.

What you write is different than what i wrote, but I meant the square bracket keys. Is that what you were looking for?

The square bracket keys on the computer keyboard, you should have said. I was looking all over the place on the player for [and], but thank you, I figured it out. I didn't know you could do this using the computer keyboard.

But my question still stands. Why don't these people just leave things alone, the way they are? As the adage goes..."If it ain't broke, don't fix it"!

"If it ain't broke, make it go faster!"

Btw. that functionality is also accessible through the menu bar and the right-mouse-button context menu :
"Playback -> Speed -> Faster/Slower/etc"
So I don't know what has changed or just moved, but the current layout seems logical to me.

Ah you can click the status bar! I didn't know that, that's useful :)
No I can change the speed with only my mouse easily for when my keyboard is out of range. Thanks!

Though it doesn't snap back to 1x speed when dragging the slider. it keeps jumping between 0.96 and 1.04. Needed to use the double arrows to go to 1.0 which is fine I guess if you now that trick.
