VLC needs an automatic book mark

Does it even have an existing bookmark? I have never been able to get it to work.

I agree, and I came to this board today specifically to create a username to suggest this very thing.

Then I discovered that my username was already in use. Turns out that I made a post asking about this very thing in September of 2009. It wasn't in the "Feature Requests" section, though, so maybe that's why it never went anywhere.

I think this is normally called "auto-resume." I haven't found any players that do it as well as the older XP versions of PowerDVD. PowerDVD is ridiculously overpriced, though, and I'm using Linux now anyway. There's a Linux player called SMPlayer that does it, but not very well because it doesn't work with playlists. At any rate, since VLC has so many awesome features and plays pretty much every kind of file, I would love to see this feature added, so that VLC would become the unchallenged king of media players.

I put a post on this subject a few months ago and got 0 responses. It's hard to believe that auto-resume is a common feature on nearly any podcast player on smartphones as well as being on smplayer for many years but not on VLC Player. In my case I've got 3 hour sporting events that are a hassle to watch in multiple sittings if i forget to write down where I was.
