Opus in mkv

But latest git version v2.2.0 of VLC does not play sound in matroska movies with opus (A_OPUS/EXPERIMENTAL) tracks. Are there some plans to implement this feature?

Experimental is the key word. As of today there is no defined standard for OPUS in Matroska.

I believe that Opus support is stable now, perhaps I'm wrong.

I am experimenting with muxing a mkv with two opus audio language tracks, if it is still experimental I will wait. VLC is able to play the stand alone opus files but within the mkv it throws an error.

mkv demux error: unknown codec id=`A_OPUS'

The codec id is from mkvmerge. Maybe this is resolved with VLC 2.1.0?

Software:

1. Opusenc: (from the repos) opusenc opus-tools 0.1.6-50-g1ba6702 (using libopus 1.1-beta)
   MKVMerge: mkvmerge GUI v6.4.1 ('Omega Point')
   OS: GNU/Linux Debian x86_64 amd64 jessie
   VLC: (Outdated, from the repos) 2.0.8 Twoflower (revision 2.0.8a-0-g68cf50b)

Thanks for the response TypX. I'll await the future release of VLC that is able to play a mkv with muxed opus tracks.

VLC is awesome software, thanks to all developers.

Any news about opus+vp9 patch in 2.1.x, there starts to appear more and more those files because vp9+opus in mkv/webm is becoming standard.

VLC can decode opus files fine but inside webm/mkv it shows:
No suitable decoder module:
VLC does not support the audio or video format "undf". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this.
