The CUSTOMIZE INTERFACE is always changing

For years now, I have spent lots of time "customizing the Interface" as it is an important feature while using VLC.

1. From one release to another (not deleting preferences does not work for me), I have to re-do.
2. For no reason I know, buttons come and go, I SAVE them sometimes but my saved ones disappear

I suggest VLC have a way to SAVE the CUSTOMIZE INTERFACE separately or be able to BACK IT UP.

I consider it to be the weakest link in VLC an the most bothersome.
