i've been using wallpaper mode recently and its annoying that the video window opens up everytime i change playlist file from a shortcut. I would like vlc to stay in the system tray all the time, not just when it starts, unless i click the systray icon.
So far i have found it virtually impossible to open a playlist in wallpaper mode and not have the vid window pop up, embedded or not (decorations or not). on the odd occasion going from playlist to playlist does keep vid minimised but this is very very occasionally behaviour and seems more of a bug than vlcs intent.
i got a workaround

start vlc normally, minimise the 1st window. then subsequent playlists start minimised. Super
one caveat is vid must be embedded

also glad to see deinterlacing setting being carried over on playlist change too recently, although this isn't 100% of the time. nice one. Caveat for this one is when deinterlacing fails on playlist change, it (deinterlacing) must be restarted or further playlist changes will NOT have deinterlacing. I recommend setting a global hotkey for deinterlacing
