Codec request - Support for QMP4 (QNAP MPEG4)

Unfortunately cannot find much reference to this codec but it is used on QNAP NAS storage surveillance solutions. To my frustration those are played fine under Windows Media Player on Windows.

I can provide test .avi's of logfile information if needed.

Did you try VLC 2.1.0 nightly builds?

Thanks, actually I didn't. I tried this evening but seem to have a hard time to get it compiled under OS X 10.8. But also appear to fail with the stable builds, so unless there are general issues known for 10.8 I will need to see whether I can fix this and try then.

Fair enough, didn't realize that those were there as well. Thanks for pointing out.

Using 2.1.0 from 30. July (nothing later there) and indeed - video is working. Unfortunately no sound for those QMP4 avi's though. Tested other types and they seem to be good with audio.

So getting closer, should adjust the request to QMP4 avi audio support..

Qnap Nas (new 2014) stores surveilance videos in an .avi format as mentioned above, Qmp4 format. Only once you try to play the .avi does it reveal its a Qmp4 format

and it cant play it

as mentioned here

I got 2.1.4 on mac and it fails on that

I've now tried it on my PC - windows 7 home edition

All of these Installed FINe

But when launched gave ""Unable to start the program because it lacks libwinpthread-1.dll on your computer." and wouldnt work

I finally got the following download (which was the only one that didnt give the libwinpthread-1.dll error)

Hi guys,
This topic saved me for the previous QMP4 issue, I installed the latest nightly build, worked perfectly, many thanks!
...until... I Updated QNAP Surveillance Station a few days ago and...

latest VLC (19/04) now tells :
"Codec not supported: VLC could not decode the format "wMP4" (No description for this codec)"
Same with 'wIVG' Motion JPEG

Can someone tell me why the hell qnap are changing their formats all the time? (I got not explanation from their support services)
Sorry if I didn't look first at an eventual 'Codec request - Support for wMP4 (QNAP wMP4)' recent topic --- getting p*ssed off

'w' stands for what? Windows ?

Please share those 2 files, with wMP4 and wIVG.

QNAP is changing their format all the time to avoid that you can play it with VLC.
