VLC should prevent PC from sleeping while playing music

Hi,

I am using VLC 2.0.2 on Win-7 for playing both videos and music. When playing videos everything is OK, but I noticed that when playing music, the computer falls a sleep after a while and stops the music. I want the computer to keep playing music even if I'm busy elsewhere in the house

I went through VLC advanced options and searched google for a solution but found none.

VLC 1.x did not have this problem.

Hi, I am also having this problem. The computer just sleeps when listening to music on VLC. I don't want to go into control panel each time I wanna listen to an album or more. Is there another solution?

I have the same problem. While listening to audiobooks, I have to return to the PC over and over again to move the mouse, just to keep the screen from going to sleep and the sound cutting out. I can't believe this hasn't been addressed, this is only one of several threads related to VLC not preventing the screen from going into standby while playing audio. The reply from the VLC moderators seems to be unanimous: "Nuh uh. That's not an issue." It is an issue, it didn't happen in previous releases of VLC, and it is the sole reason I switched to KMPlayer. I am disappointed to find the responses of the VLC team to threads like this to be of arrogant nonchalance.
