[Mac] Hide the interface

Postby Lucy Saxon » 10 May 2012 13:58

The Windows version is fantastic and has the very handy Ctrl+H, but the Mac version doesn't have any such function. Would it be possible to include it in a future release?

I don't run Windows - are you referring to this: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=95294&p=315829&hilit=size#p315829?

If so, I'd like to second the OP's request - please can we have a Minimal view for the OS X interface?

Cheers. :)

I've just implemented this feature for the next major release. It isn't decided so far, whether we will backport it to the 2.0.x series or not. You can fetch a nightly build to give it a try.
Note that the experience is a bit limited at the moment. To enable the minimal mode, go to the "Video" category of VLC's preferences and uncheck the "Window decorations" option. Click save and restart VLC. Switching the modes on the fly isn't supported at this point.

I've given it a try, and as you've already warned, there is very limited experience (not being able to resize the window). I have to say, it's definitely a step in the right direction. I really look forward to seeing this feature mature. I don't mind not being able to change it on the fly, but being able to resize the window would be awesome.
