Allow users to change user agent info and also other info that VLC sends to server so if server requires WMP then you could easily change the user agent info to match what server wants.
I am used to use VLC and I am not happy to download and install 100 MB large player that makes computer slow just because of few streams.

So I hope that everyone who develops VLC will agree with how vital this option is.
