Christmas VLC

Postby christiaanberlin » 18 Dec 2011 12:49

I am really grateful for all the hard work you guys do to bring us this fantastic player. It is high quality work and really reliable.
I would really like the option of removing the santa-hat. I am not going to get political, because this is not the right place but it is important to me and I would like the option of switching back to the normal icon. I think it is a big mistake to assume that all users have the same cultural background and sense of humour.

I know there is a patch which I have seen but don't know what to do with. I have spent 3 hours trying to work something out and don't know how to proceed. Would be really grateful for your help.

Many thanks in advance,

Christiaan.

There is already an option in VLC 1.2. Use it.

I would love to... but I have looked for updates and my system tells me that my version 1.1.11 is the newest, which is also the information I get from the website.

I think it is a big mistake to assume that all users have the same cultural background and sense of humour.
On the other hand I think it's fair to allow the developers to express themselves if they wish - after all they are doing this for free.
And it is not an overtly political or religious symbol.

Thank you Lotesdelere....

And Steve please dont give me this "on the other hand" stuff.... Christmas is religios and is a choice. I am just very glad that where I live there is almost no religious meaning to the event any more and it is all about shopping and santa claus. : )
